About us

Formerly known as MacLeod & Jerrams Traditional Stonemasons, MacLeod Masonry is a respected family run business based in the Hill of Fearn, Ross-shire, and serves the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

Peter MacLeod, founder, is an award winning, traditionally trained and time served stonemason with a wealth of experience in stone carving, building and lime works.

As the former Scottish national apprentice of the year (2008) and experienced SMSTS site manager, he combines extensive project management and practical craft skills. Peter has previously project managed several landmark projects in Aberdeenshire and across the Highlands of Scotland. These include comprehensive works at Drum Castle, Inverness Townhouse & Castle and Aldourie Castle.

Peter holds Advanced Craft certification in Stonemasonry. (Historic Scotland 2011, Elgin)

Our stonemasonry connection to Ross-shire stretches back generations - amongst several landmark buildings in use today, Peter’s great, great grandfather built the Royal Hotel in Tain and Fearn Primary school. Amongst his great, great, great grandfather’s works stand Tain Sheriff Court, and Tarbat Old primary school. Our logo reflects the recognisable Maitland style; the leading architectural firm with whom much of these works were undertaken.

We are passionate about our built heritage and are delighted to work with many clients - home owners, architects, surveyors, estates, ecclesiastical bodies and historical trusts.
